Angsana Velavaru is located 40 minutes from Male by seaplane, in a picturesque lagoon. Clear blue waters, colorful corals and sand as white as sugar. Every shade of blue and green you can imagine. Angsana Velavaru has two different areas, the main island, and the In Ocean Villas. A detached jetty, with the most charming villas. The main island is the natural beauty of Maldives, lush green vegetation, and soft white sand.
The villas are situated elegantly over the property. Some closer to the beachfront than other. We will recommend you to ask for the sunset side of the island, towards the In Ocean Villas. Here is the water more turquoise and beautiful due to the lagoon.
The south tip of the island is a big sand bank, with water sports and relaxation on the beach. At the In Ocean Villa jetty, the Azzuro Restaurant welcomes the guests to have their breakfast, lunch or dinner. A Dhoni operates between the main island and In Ocean Villa jetty. The Dhoni starts early morning and stops in the late evening. Very easy to move around the resort.
The Main Land is all beach villas in different categories. The primary features are similar; the main room with a king size bed and big bathroom. Some villas have private swimming pools in the backyard and even jet pools. The design is gorgeous, bright and white, with orange and yellow contrasts here and there. An excellent choice for a convenient villa accommodation in a Maldivian paradise.
In Ocean Villas is in our opinion the ultimate villa at Angsana Velavaru. This separated jetty contains a group of magnificent and elegant villas, vast and luxurious in shape and size. The entire facade towards the ocean water is windows, with a view of either sunset or sunrise. Each villa has a big private pool and some even a private sala in front. Of course, you can swim directly into the sea and snorkel on the reef, right from the villas. The In Ocean Villas have a rooftop terrasse, where the resort can arrange a private bbq dinner for you. Design wise In Ocean Villas is another league, very modern and fashionable. Elegant details with colorful lamps and pillows. All in all the villas is very well taken care of and looks good.
Restaurants and Bars
The main Island has Kaani and Funa restaurants along with the bar Kuredhi.
Kaani is the all day dining, where dinner mainly is served as buffets. Funa is fine dining, serving lobster dinners, situated over the water.
Azzurro is the all-day dining option located at the In Ocean jetty, and here you at are in for a treat. At the breakfast, a small buffet, along with a card of ala carte choices. Excellent, light and well prepared. You can sit in front of the restaurant on the veranda and enjoy the sound of the sea, while dining. Azzurro also has a small bar, for pre- or post-dinner cocktails.
Pool and Activities
Angsana has no public pool, as most villas have private pools. You have the best natural pool in the world, right at the beach, so who would even considering a public pool instead of a swim in the ocean?
There are many activities at Angsana. Snorkeling and diving are of course some of them, along with water sports like stand up paddling, kayaking, kite surfing and much more. Each day several tours sail off to dive or snorkeling spots in the local area. Remember to visit the parrots on the island. They are very cute.
In 2013 Angsana Spa was awarded as the best Luxury Spa in Maldives, and the heritage from Banyan Tree shows. Angsana Spa is located in the middle of the island, and with all the treatment rooms being open air, the experience is perfect in our opinion. Why should you hide away in a cooled villa, if you can enjoy the breeze and sounds of Maldivian nature?
The In Ocean Villas should be on your list, and if you prefer to stay both on the island and in In Ocean Villas, the resort can arrange this for you.
Treat yourself to a delicious dinner in Azzurro – the food quality and service here is amazing. Fresh seafood right out of the ocean.
